Math
This week in Math, students worked with place value and practiced writing the three forms of numbers: standard, expanded, and word.  We also worked in math partnerships to complete a few assignments.  Students completed an ALEKS pre-assessment.  ALEKS is a computer program that allows students to practice math skills based on each child's specific needs.
Rachel, Miss Roth, & Zoe play Addition War with three addends.

Reader's Workshop
During Reader's Workshop, we spent time setting up our Reading Journals.  Students compiled a "To Read" list, and also practiced their stamina reading.

Ciara & Jacob explore traditional literature during our Book Frenzy.

Alondra & Miles take a look at some poetry and jot down some titles they'd like to read.

Anina & Gage thumb through informational text to see what looked interesting.

Writer's Workshop
Students generated ideas in their Writer's Notebooks by creating a heart map, personal map, and memory chain.  They will use these ideas for future writing pieces.

Science & Social Studies
Students worked as scientists with Mrs. Branding and began the investigation and inquiry process.  In Social Studies, we learned about geography, the study of the world, as well as the five themes of geography: location, place, region, movement, and human interaction
